REFLECTIONS
EXPERIENCES
This semester is passed very fast yet very tough. Through this semester, I surely learned a lot of things especially through my failures. After those failures, sometimes I felt glad that I made them, and most of the time they stressed me out. However, those failures always gave me something more to be learned. Throughout this semester I've learned on how to manage my time as I'm not a very disciplined person, thus I feel this semester not only upgrading my knowledge as a design student but also upgrading me as a person. Although I have to admit that this semester was very hard for me, I had a fun experience thanks to my friends and both lecturers.
OBSERVATIONS
I realised that as a design student, discussing ideas and thoughts is crucial especially with myself. I see how interacting with a lot of source of information, references, and people can be both motivating and inspiring as I see my classmates' improvement throughout the first and this semester. I noticed that I was struggling with the first project as I may lack of research. The first project stressed me out the most but I learned my lesson through the process. Working on these projects, makes me aware of the consistency of design that plays a role in maintaining an identity of the designs. While the final project allows us to explore and experiment the typography in a sense to solve a problem with a typographical solution or add value to existing typeface, pushing us to go deeper to our area of interest typographically.
FINDINGS
I found that everyone has their own style when it comes to learning, and we have to appreciate the diversity on this matter. I found myself needs more research and references on typography, generally design field. I also realised how the design principles and typography we have learned last semester helps and works as the foundation for us to work on exercises and projects for this module. I also found myself become respectful to typefaces and designs out there as I know the process to go to the final outcome is never easy. Hopefully I will found myself better at the things I lack at now in the near future.
